Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with speech, voice, or language disorders.

QUALIFICATIONS :

Education / Certification:

  1. Valid Texas Assistant Speech-language Pathologist license granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language pathology and Audiology
  2. Bachelor's degree
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  1. Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions
  2. Ability to instruct and manage student behavior
  3. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
  1. One year of supervised clinical speech-language pathology experience

  9. Gives students concise and concrete feedback regarding approximations toward mastery of objectives.
  10. Uses appropriate reinforcement techniques.
  11. Uses appropriate motivational techniques. Stresses importance of intrinsic motivation when appropriate.
  12. Uses therapy time effectively.
  13. Maximizes use of incidental learning.
  14. Presents information in a variety of ways.
  15. Structures the environment in order to facilitate optimal behaviors.
  16. Manages student behavior in an equitable manner.
Professional Responsibilities

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks; media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment.
