Software Developer Wave of change for university administration – The University System of Georgia (USG) invites applications for a dynamic Software Developer position within its Administrative Services Development Team. This role is based in Athens, Georgia, at the Information Technology Services (ITS) office (2500 Daniells Bridge Road). Onsite attendance is required five days a week; remote work is not offered. Job Summary The Software Developer acts as a key technical resource supporting the University System’s enterprise applications—OneUSG Connect (PeopleSoft HCM), GeorgiaFIRST Financials, and Augusta Financials. The position bridges entry‑level and senior developer responsibilities and enables you to lead small projects, provide production support, and contribute to complex problem‑solving initiatives. In subsequent years, the role will be integral to the Unified ERP Project, facilitating the transition from PeopleSoft to Workday. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain technical fixes, enhancements, and reports for PeopleSoft HCM and Financials systems. Provide production support for benefits reconciliation and payroll processing, ensuring data integrity and compliance with established rules. Maintain and enhance the Human Resources Data Mart to support HR analytics and reporting needs. Utilize PeopleSoft development tools (Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Integration Broker, Data Mover) to implement and deploy system changes. Write and maintain SQL and PL/SQL scripts, queries, and reports for analysis, debugging, and performance optimization. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues alongside business analysts and system stakeholders. Assist with scheduled maintenance, testing, and deployments in line with ITS change‑management processes. Serve on the Unified ERP Technical Team to support the transition from PeopleSoft to Workday across Financials, Procurement, and HCM. Participate in data validation, interface analysis, system testing, and documentation to ensure seamless migration and integration. Collaborate with DBAs, system administrators, and other developers on performance tuning, data management, and release coordination. Engage in code reviews, quality assurance testing, and post‑deployment validation. Mentor entry‑level developers and contribute to team knowledge sharing. Keep up‑to‑date with PeopleSoft practices, Oracle database technologies, and cloud ERP trends. Continuously recommend technical and process improvements to enhance system reliability. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in software development, technical support, or ERP systems administration. Strong proficiency in SQL for data analysis, debugging, and performance tuning. Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop sustainable solutions. Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross‑functional teamwork. Detail‑oriented approach with a commitment to documentation, accuracy, and compliance with change‑management standards. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting PeopleSoft HCM modules such as Benefits, Payroll, or Commitment Accounting. Experience supporting PeopleSoft Financials modules (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Purchasing). Familiarity with SQR, nVision, or other PeopleSoft reporting tools. Experience working in higher‑education or public‑sector ERP environments. Exposure to Workday or ERP transition/data migration projects. Knowledge of APIs, web services, or middleware connecting ERP systems to external applications. Experience in additional languages (Java, Python, XSLT). Proficiency with PeopleSoft development tools (Application Designer, PeopleCode, Application Engine, Integration Broker, Data Mover). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Design, develop, and maintain complex integrations across Workday and PeopleSoft. Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve application and integration issues efficiently. Translate business needs into scalable, maintainable technical solutions. Strong understanding of Workday integration tools (Studio, EIB, Core Connectors) and PeopleSoft technologies. Knowledge of data structures, APIs, web services (REST/SOAP), secure file transfer methods. Familiarity with SQL, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices (source control, CI/CD). Proficiency in developing and supporting Workday‑to‑PeopleSoft integrations and related automation. Skilled in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and debugging integration errors. Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills within cross‑functional teams.
