Job Description

Principal Responsibilities:

The Sports Coach is responsible for creating the curriculumand overseeing the day-to-day implementation of a particular Core Sportsprogram. He/She/They is responsible for coaching a wide variety of classes,working with children from grades 3 to 11 to teach soccer, basketball,baseball, tennis, volleyball, gaga, capture the flag and more.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop children's fundamental movement and sports skills ("run, catch, throw") and early understanding of game play
• Lead sport-specific drill and game components including set-up, clean-up and equipment management with fellow coaches
• Develop children's self-esteem and confidence by growing their capacity for and success in physical activity and in individual and team sport situations
• Collaborate with the Director of Sports & League in creating curriculum and ensuring day-to-day implementation
• Ensure the health, safety and welfare of class participants and work towards positive resolution if any issues are presented
• "Plant the seeds" for a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity and sports participation
• Interact with parents, caregivers, and team members in various SJJCC departments to create a strong sense of community
• Light administrative work
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1+ years' experience working with children and sports - or - related, applicable experience
• HighSchool or GED Diploma
• Experienceworking with youth in a structured environment
• Requiredto work afternoon hours
• Musthave a basic understanding and proficiency in coaching a wide range of sports
• Mustbe energetic and upbeat, able to maintain a positive attitude throughoutthe day
• Mustbe good role model, hard-working, promoting kind behavior, be encouragingand friendly, and exhibit good values
• Excellentcustomer service skills, ability to establish and maintain effectiveworking relationships with parents, caregivers, team members, SJJCCmembers and members of the general public
• Comfortwith large group instruction; projecting voice in large space.
• CPR/AED/FirstAid preferred but not required

Salary:

$35,000 - $45,000
