Own the design and commercialization of innovative food packaging for food service, consumer packaged goods, and food processors—driving from concept definition to production validation and customer acceptance.

What you'll do

• Lead multiple product design initiatives with full lifecycle accountability.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using PTC Creo (Pro‑E) or an equivalent tool.
• Prepare CAD data for rapid prototyping and machining: stereolithography (SLA), fused deposition modeling (FDM), and CAM.
• Facilitate research and brainstorming sessions to unlock differentiated customer solutions.
• Partner with Tooling Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to verify manufacturability early and often.
• Engineer for diverse materials and processes: rigid sheet thermoforming, foam thermoforming, injection molding, folded paper, molded fiber, and extrusion.
• Define performance specifications and testing methods; coordinate lab work and manufacturing trials.
• Translate market and customer inputs into formal requirements and functional specifications.
• Build and manage development and commercialization timelines; communicate progress to product managers, Sales, customers, Manufacturing, and Finance.
• Shape manufacturing strategy and capital plans with tooling and operations engineering.
• Develop cost estimates using internal costing tools; assemble capital requirement outlines.
• Maintain thorough project documentation and contribute to regular organizational project reviews.
• Coordinate new product startups at manufacturing plants; collaborate with process engineering, plant staff, and Pactiv customers to validate production performance and secure acceptance.

How you'll work

• Cross‑functional influence: High‑visibility collaboration with Product Management, Sales, Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling Engineering, and Finance.
• Design rigor: CAD excellence, DFM/DFA focus, and iterative prototyping.
• Evidence‑based decisions: Performance metrics, cost modeling, and test data shape go/no‑go choices.
• Execution discipline: Clear milestones, transparent status, and tightly managed launch activities.

Your toolkit

• PTC Creo/Pro‑E (or equivalent CAD), drawing standards, and release practices.
• Rapid prototyping (SLA, FDM) and CAM workflows.
• Internal costing tools for product cost estimation.
• Test plans, validation protocols, and reporting templates.
