Position Summary
The Cary Institute is seeking a reliable and vigilant Full-Time Security Guard for the 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM shift, Monday through Friday. The guard will be responsible for securing Institute buildings and grounds, monitoring mechanical systems, and ensuring all visitors comply with established access policies.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform routine checks of all Institute buildings to ensure security.
- Confirm that heating and other mechanical systems are functioning properly.
- Patrol Cary Institute roadways during assigned hours.
- Approach and engage visitors when necessary to enforce access policies.
- Complete a detailed written security report at the end of each shift.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid New York State Security Guard license.
- At least one year of professional security experience.
- Experience working in state/national parks or with wildlife
Preferred Qualifications
Working Conditions
- This is a Full-time Non-Exempt fully benefitted position
- Evening and night work required (4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday through Friday).
- · Must be able to perform foot and vehicle patrols in varying weather conditions.
