POSITION SUMMARY Outlyr is looking for a creative individual with a passion for marketing to manage the execution of a comprehensive marketing plan for the Dow Championship, a unique team format event on the LPGA Tour. The marketing manager would work closely with tournament staff on the execution of the marketing plan in the lead up to the event, as well as oversee and manage the onsite media center.
If you're a savvy marketing specialist with expertise that covers everything from promotions to press releases, and traditional marketing, we'd like to meet you. Working closely with the Tournament Director and staff, you'll develop, coordinate and handle creative services, promotions, media partnerships and public relations responsibilities.
The right candidate will be able to work as part of a team and will collaborate closely with internal divisions, clients, and marketing partners. Strong team dynamics skills are required for this position. Extended travel on weekends, evenings and some holiday work may also be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES + DUTIES - Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and promotional plans
- Support on-site activities including media centers and live/remote broadcasts
- Support client internal communications
- Oversee the management of event websites and email marketing campaigns
- Brainstorm and pitch story ideas to media members
- Establish effective media relationships on a local and national level to secure coverage from a wide range of mediums
- Work with News Editors and Sports Editors to secure coverage from all local and regional mediums
- Manage events' ticketing sites and respond to general ticket inquiries
- Serve as main liaison with designer for all event creative projects
- Create recap documents of the tournament including hard data, key metrics, and recommendations
- Carry out assigned tasks with limited supervision, including coordinating and implementing projects
- Other related duties/projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's Degree with at least 3-5 years of experience in related PR/Communications field
- Previous event experience a plus
- Polished communication skills, both written and oral
- Experience writing and distributing press releases
- Previous collaboration with media outlets, editors, and charitable partners
- Demonstrated ability to self-start and initiate work
- Ability to problem solve and work effectively under pressure while working as both part of a team as well as independently
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
- Collaborative in nature with a "no job is too small" attitude to assist with overall account team duties and additional programs as needed
- Ability and flexibility to travel and weekend/holiday work as needed, approximately 25% of the year
- A writing and PowerPoint assignment may be a part of the hiring process
- Must be available to work full time in Midland, MI, with travel to other markets as needed
