ENA offers a flexible hybrid work schedule that allows employees the opportunity to work from the office two days a week and at home three days a week. We are headquartered in Schaumburg, Illinois.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The Instructional Designer serves in a collaborative role focused on course design and learning experience. This position is primarily responsible for working with Subject Matter Experts, Nurse Planners, and Program Services division staff to implement educational initiatives. The designer oversees the entire course design lifecycle, including analysis, development, and evaluation. Key responsibilities encompass the analysis of learning outcomes, the design and development of educational materials, and the implementation of accredited emergency nursing education programs. This role uses modern course authoring tools to deliver an authentic learner experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Applies principles of adult learning theory such as the A.D.D.I.E model, to the evaluation, design and development of all synchronous and asynchronous learning content, activities and experiences. Follows all current industry best practices to deliver the curated course content
  2. Evaluates instructional requirements to ensure relevance, quality, and consistency, offering consultation for all courses to foster the development of engaging and educationally sound emergency nursing learning experiences. Ensures alignment with policies, standards, and educational objectives, while providing timely updates and necessary revisions.
  3. Conducts research on emerging digital instructional technologies and recommends their integration as instructional design solutions for the development of innovative delivery modalities and digital learning experiences. Utilizes existing learning management systems and digital development tools, including Articulate, Adobe, and TechSmith Camtasia, Canva to enhance instructional content.
  4. Applies project management skills during the design, editing, and review of digital learning products to ensure resources and scope align with established deadlines.
  5. Manages, designs, and develops various video media for inclusion in all educational programming.
  6. Acts as a direct resource for other departments within the organization, offering expertise in the design, development and editing of products that extend beyond digital learning initiatives.
  7. Contributes to the workplace culture that is consistent with the association’s culture statement and emphasizes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  8. Displays a high level of accountability, taking responsibility for individual actions and the impact on the organization. Views oneself as a reflection of the organization by following through on commitments and accepting ownership.
  9. Performs additional related duties as required or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, in instructional design, education, or equivalent field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of instructional design experience, preferably in healthcare
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and development tools for digital learning such as Articulate (Storyline, Rise), Adobe (Captivate, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Premiere, After Effects), and TechSmith Camtasia.
  • Experience with developing Microlearning
  • Video Editing skills
  • Experience with Virtual training platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)

  • Understanding of basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
  • Proficient in learning management systems and other web-based authoring tools, specifically Articulate, Adobe products, and Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to prioritize, schedule, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders and multi-skilled professionals (staff, board, leadership, nurse planners, SMEs, volunteers)
  • Ability to exercise a high level of discretion, creativity, critical thinking, and independent judgment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Personal leadership skills and ability to take credit, critique, and responsibility
  • Excellent word processing skills with strong technical writing, referencing, editing, and proof-reading abilities

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This position is an exempt/salaried position. The targeted salary range is $73k-$79k annually. Compensation is determined based on a range of factors, including experience, education, certifications or specialized training, skill level and operational needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. Requires ability to communicate verbally and in writing in an exchange of information; collect, compile, and prepare work documents; set-up and maintain work files, and participate in meetings both in-person and virtually. Use of the computer, with repetitive motion, is approximately 80% of time, with 20% of time spent on miscellaneous coordination of activities or oversight of assigned staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Majority of work is performed in a hybrid method, with work performed at either a general office environment or a remote location. Occasional travel may be required.
