Overview

Sportsman’s Warehouse is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Employment Law Intern to join our Legal team for Summer 2025, running from June 2nd through July 25th . This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in employment law within a corporate legal environment. Interns will support a variety of HR and legal initiatives related to labor compliance, policy development, and legal research. You'll gain exposure to the retail industry, collaborate with in-house legal and HR teams, and deepen your understanding of employment law in practice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Key Projects & Strategic Support:

• Conduct legal research related to employment law issues, including FMLA, ADA, wage and hour laws, and workplace discrimination.
• Assist with the review and revision of employee handbooks and company policies to ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws.
• Support internal audits related to labor compliance and risk mitigation efforts.
• Prepare legal memos and summaries for in-house counsel and HR leadership.

General Legal Support:

• Review employment agreements and assist with drafting template documents.
• Track and summarize legislative updates relevant to retail employment law.
• Attend internal meetings to observe legal counsel and HR collaboration on employee relations matters.

Qualifications

Required:

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Legal Studies, Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, or a related field
• Strong research, analytical, and writing skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel)
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
• Excellent communication and discretion in handling sensitive information

Preferred:

• Completed coursework in Employment Law or Labor Law
• Prior experience working in an HR or legal setting
• Interest in corporate legal practice or HR compliance

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Office-based at our West Jordan, UT headquarters (on-site only)
• Primarily sedentary with occasional standing, walking, and light lifting (up to 10 lbs)
