Description
Bald Birds Brewing Company in Audubon, Pennsylvania is looking for a Head Brewer to join our ever-growing team.
As Head Brewer, you are a key employee within the organization and are responsible for an area of the business. Key employees are expected to uphold the values, policies, and strategy of Bald Birds and manage their teams to do the same. In this role, you will be expected to fulfill departmental goals and meet KPIs, maintain process efficiency, and proactively diagnose potential problems in your department and communicate them effectively upwards within the organization.
Success in your role will include, but not be limited to, the task areas outlined below, and your responsibilities may grow beyond this scope in the future.
- Operate and maintain brewhouse and cellar equipment (mashtun, kettle, heat ex, centrifuge, etc)
- Manage fermentation and filtration of all beer
- Oversee and direct all beer brewing processes
- Train and supervise brewhouse and beer cellar operators as assigned
- Create and maintain SOPs for brewhouse and beer cellar operation
- Formulate recipes for Bald Birds beers in collaboration with other Head Brewers
- Manage brewery inventory in coordination with Production and Operations Directors
- Source and maintain brewery materials and inventory
- Coordinate with Director of Retail Operations to create beer brewing schedule
- Conduct and/or supervise quality control and assurance procedures using sensory analysis, PCR testing, and other methods as appropriate
- Additional tasks as assigned by the management team
- Provide leadership and guidance to teammates and creating positive company culture

This position is full time, Monday through Friday with occasional weekends dependent on operation needs and the brew schedule.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities
? Must be 21 years of age or older
? Must have an exceptional palate (sensory and off-flavor training are a plus)
? At least 2-5 years brewing and packaging experience
? Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
? Working knowledge of basic lab equipment and procedures
? Knowledge of a wide variety of beer styles and the ability to brew them
? Creative problem solving and troubleshooting skills
? Positive attitude and an ability to stay calm under pressure
? Organized with exceptional communication skills
? Valid driver's license
? Able to stand for extended periods of time
? Able to regularly twist, turn, bend, and lift supplies weighing up to 55lbs
? Able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment with moderate noise and seasonally fluctuating temperatures
Salary Description
$60,000, PTO, 401K, Health Benefits
