RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Leadership and Mentorship- oversee the engineering team, assigning and managing projects to ensure efficient execution, provide guidance and support to foster the professional growth of the engineering team.
  • Develop and execute the engineering department's vision, strategy, and roadmap to align with company objectives.
  • Drive innovation through research and development projects, leading to new designs, products, and processes.
  • Assist in facility layout, equipment selection, and installation optimizing production processes.
  • Lead and inspire the team in developing innovative new products, solutions, and processes.
  • Manufacturing excellence- collaborate with the production manager to develop and implement strategies that improve manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Cost Management- oversee the costing of new products by developing Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routers for our ERP system.
  • Establishes procedures, processes, and systems for maintaining high standards of production operations to ensure that products conform to established customer and company quality standards.
  • Participates with the senior management team to implement improvement strategies and bring in new products. Assists senior management in incorporating and aligning engineering capabilities in the short and long term planning.
  • Manages a high functioning dynamic team and ensuring development and growth opportunities.
  • Maintains and enhances company culture by adhering to the company’s core values and mission statement.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required
  • MBA Preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of management experience
  • Expertise in wood product manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Experience engineering commercial furniture and millwork, working with a variety of materials including wood products, solid surface materials, and metals.
  • Exhibits strong example of Servant leadership and mentorship
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with project management and continuous improvement methodologies including lean, TQM, PDCA, 5S, and Six Sigma
  • Strong software experience with ERP’s, Solid Works, AutoCAD, and MS Office

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15lbs
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
