Base pay range: $266,001 $325,112 per year.

Job Overview

Director of Business Development, Federal Government will lead the companys growth strategy across the Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal Civilian Agencies, driving adoption of advanced materials, personal protective equipment, and MRO products. Responsible for identifying, shaping, and winning strategic opportunities that align the companys materials science innovations with federal priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the federal business development strategy for advanced materials, personal protective equipment, and MRO applications across defense and civilian markets.
  • Identify emerging needs and translate them into actionable business opportunities.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of Business Development Managers.
  • Collaborate closely with technical, contracting, field sales, and product teams to align government requirements with company innovation roadmaps.
  • Build and manage a robust, balanced pipeline covering short- and long-term growth objectives.
  • Report regularly to executive leadership on pipeline health, forecasts, and progress on key business initiatives.
  • Develop teaming and partnership strategies with primes and labs.
  • Establish relationships with senior government and defense executives, program managers, and technical leaders.
  • Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, and forums to strengthen brand visibility.
  • Promote integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in all business development activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Fifteen (15) years of business development, capture, or program leadership within the federal market, including DoD and civilian agencies.
  • Proven track record of winning multimillion dollar opportunities in private, public, government or military environments.
  • Current, valid Drivers License.
  • Established network within DoD, civilian agencies and defense primes.
  • Experience working with DoD (Army, Navy, Air Force), DOE, DHS.
  • U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred).
  • Strong understanding of materials science and engineering applications.
  • Proven success in a highly matrixed work environment.
  • Strong communication skills across government and industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry.

Washington, D.C. Metro Area.

Travel

May include up to 50% domestic travel.

Relocation

May be authorized.
