Job Description Admissions Interviewer (part-time hourly position) Pay rate is $50 per hour. Job Description The Admissions Interviewer plays a vital role in the admissions team, working closely and collaboratively with members of the team in order to assess applicants, primarily by observing and/or facilitating during child visits. Play visits will take place in-person but candidates should be prepared to assess children remotely via Zoom (we have generated a well-developed online interview process should this be necessary). The Interviewer may also be asked to support admissions events, interview prospective parents, and conduct tours for prospective families. The candidate must be an experienced educator who works well in a team, has a strong understanding of child development and progressive education, and demonstrates a commitment to creating a school community that is inclusive and reflects our diverse society. Responsibilities Observe and/or facilitate admissions play group visits for preschool - grade 1 (children ages 2-6) Conduct one-on-one assessments for applicants to grades 2 - 4 (children ages 6-9) Take detailed observational notes during admissions visits Prepare and maintain the interview space Update candidate records and spreadsheets in a timely manner Visit sending schools to observe candidates as needed Assist with additional responsibilities as needed and at the discretion of the Director of Admissions, such as supporting admissions events, interviewing prospective parents, and conducting tours for prospective families Qualifications Strong interpersonal and communication skills Excellent observational and note-taking skills Deep understanding of progressive education Special education training or experience with diverse learners, preferred but not required Personal and professional commitments to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work 3 Years or more experience with children in early childhood and elementary settings BA required; MA preferred Schedule: Late September through February Tuesdays, Wednesdays and some Thursdays (typically 8:30 a.m. start time) Hourly schedule; part-time; flexibility a plus Typically 10-15 hours a week About Us Bank Street is a leader in education, a pioneer in improving the quality of classroom practice, and a national advocate for children and their families.
